Recommendations

!  PeopleSoft (PS) applications (MyMadison, etc.) DO NOT support tabbed browsing. Specifically, if you sign out of one PS application in one tab, then you will lose functionality in another PS application in another tab.

Internet Explorer 8.0 - 9.0 (IE8+)

!  PeopleSoft (PS) applications (MyMadison, etc.) DO NOT support tabbed browsing. Specifically, if you sign out of one PS application in one tab, then you will lose functionality in another PS application in another tab.

IE8+ Compatibility Testing on JMU Applications:

  • Certified on MyMadison
  • Allowed with eVA
  • PeopleSoft considerations for tabbed browsing in IE8+:
    • Start a new session (File → New Session on the menu bar of IE8) rather than a new tab when using multiple instances of the PS application.
    • Alternatively, you can do the following:
      1. Start → right-click Internet Explorer, create shortcut, move to desktop.
      2. Right-click and choose Properties
      3. Edit target command line and add -nomerge option so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nomerge
      4. Click OK.
      5. Note: You could also run the above command in bold from Start, Run or from the Command Line.

Safari

Information Technology recommends upgrading the Macintosh operating system to the version shown on JMU's Recommended Software list. This may require budgeting for a newer Macintosh computer.

Important Note for MyMadison Users on Mac:
!   When using the "Grades Upload" feature in MyMadison with Safari on OS X 10.3 Panther, the user must set the cookies as follows:
  1. Select the Safari menu and choose Preferences (or use Command comma).
  2. Select the Security Pane.
  3. Select the Always radio button under Accept Cookies.
  4. Close the Preferences pane.

While the Firefox browser works without changing this setting, it is not supported by JMU IT for use on Macintosh. The recommendation is to change the setting as described above.

!   When using the "Grades Upload" feature in MyMadison with Safari on Mac OS X, ensure that your file is saved as CSV (Windows) in Excel.
